Julie works as a Yoga Teacher, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and

Julie teaches yoga classes for students with somatic symptoms such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and various auto-immune disorders. After receiving her teacher training from the Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in the USA, Julie has continued to study with renowned teachers in the tradition of Hatha yoga, completing advanced studies in restorative yoga, yoga nidra, and an embodied approach to teaching movement using experiential anatomy and physiology with the teachings of Body-Mind Centering (BMC).

Julie went on to study Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Dynamic Attachment Repatterining Experience (DARe) in order to build the skills to work with clients healing from trauma, and since 2015 she continues to be guided by the trauma-informed approach of Peter Levine.

Julie enjoys teaching workshops and assisting at Cranio-Sacral Therapy and Somatic Experiencing, DARe, and BMC trainings.

She specializes in using a hands-on approach to healing trauma, with fully-clothed seated or table work. Her style is informed by her training in Cranial Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute and Touch Skills Training for trauma therapists with Kathy Kain and David Berger in the USA.

Julie works as a Trauma Touch Therapist with the New Zealand NGO Refugee’s as Survivors (RAS). She also has a private practice in Auckland were she works with people recovering from trauma, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, addiction, depression and anxiety. Julie is passionate about creating environments where people can feel safe and be in relationship with themselves and others.
