About

Catherine Cranford Thomas is a nationally certified massage therapist and experienced craniosacral practitioner dedicated to supporting holistic healing and nervous system balance. She received her National Certification in Massage Therapy in 1997 after completing a 650-hour program at the Taos School of Massage in Taos, New Mexico. Since 2009, she has been a Certified CranioSacral Therapist, integrating a wide range of modalities including CranioSacral Therapy, Somatic Emotional Release, BodyMind Clearing, doula and lactation support, and as a California-certified midwife assistant.

With over 30 years of study and hands-on experience in craniosacral and somatic practices, Catherine brings a deeply intuitive and client-centered approach to her work. Her background includes supporting labor and delivery in both hospital and private settings, working with foster children and their families, and serving neurodivergent individuals—including verbal and non-verbal children and adults, as well as those on the autism spectrum.

After years of living and working within a surfing community, Catherine developed a unique interest in the therapeutic properties of water. She now offers retreats in Costa Rica that incorporate water-based healing experiences, exploring how aquatic environments can affect the effects of craniosacral work.

Catherine is also a study group leader with the Upledger Institute and has served as a teaching assistant for CranioSacral Therapy courses at all levels since 2016, supporting the education and development of practitioners in the field.

Based in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, Catherine offers sessions focused on facilitating each client’s natural movement toward physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Sessions are available on the table or, uniquely, in the region’s beautiful tide pools for those seeking a nature-integrated experience. Adult and adolescent sessions typically last one hour, while sessions for newborns and children are 30 minutes and often recommended more frequently.

Catherine has a special passion for working with newborns, children, and new mothers. She believes that addressing restrictions early in life through pediatric craniosacral therapy can have profound benefits for long-term development and well-being.
