Kristina Pearson has been actively involved in alternative medicine for over 50 years. Kristina did her CranioSacral therapy trained with the Upledger Institute in the 1980s. Later, she took a rigorous oral and written examination to become a certified CST practitioner so she could practice in a hospital setting in Charlotte, North Carolina. While studying directly with Dr. John Upledger, in one of the last classes he ever taught, he encouraged her to be less shy about her abilities as a 'sensitive'. In the 1990s Kristina was a regular teaching assistant for Upledger CST classes, and lead a peer-study group in Charlotte, NC for other CST therapist. Her 4-year Masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine was completed in 2003 in San Diego, at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Kristina supported herself while in school with a private practice in CST and managing the school's extensive herbal pharmacy. After graduating from PCOM, she did her post graduate internship at a very active pain management clinic in San Diego.
Her first Masters Degree came from Columbia University, in New York City, where she specialized in Remedial Reading. Her clinical work was in diagnosis and linguistic based treatments for elementary students with Attention Deficit Disorder and other learning disabilities.
Her undergraduate work from the University of Denver was in Psychology, Interpersonal Communications, and Art.
In 1995, Kristina became certified in Somatic Movement Therapy (SMT) after an intensive 2-year Movement Therapy training with Dr. Martha Eddy,PhD. in Massachusetts. SMT incorporates the findings of occupational therapist, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen,O.T. who's work authenticates the body's ability to heal through developmental 'repatterning' techniques of 'Body-Mind Centering'.
In 1996, as a part of Presbyterian Hospital's first Integrative Medicine pilot program, Kristina was hired to be their CranioSacral therapist. This program was an innovative collaboration between doctors, acupuncturist, physical therapists, social workers, biofeedback, meditation, and CranioSacral therapy. Presbyterian Hospital Mathews, NC also sponsored Kristina Pearson to teach a class called "Qi Gong for the Handi-Capable". This exercise class was taught at the hospital for those with mobility and neurological conditions.
Presbyterian's collaborative approach to medicine allowed her to work in a medical team that addressed chronic disease, post-surgical pain disorders, and neurological disorders such as post concussion syndrome. Kristina has since specialized in working with patients who have had lingering post-concussion symptoms.License Number
