Gale Antaya

PT, CST-T

Graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, I have spent the past 32 years working in the field of orthopaedic manual therapy. My focus has revolved around a holistic approach to the assessment and treatment of various orthopaedic conditions including neck/back pain, temporomandibular dysfunction, whiplash-associated disorder, concussion. sprains, strains, chronic pain. post-injury and post-surgical conditions. In addition to a solid background in physiotherapy-based manual therapy techniques, I am also a Techniques-Certified Craniosacral Therapist, and have training in both visceral manipulation and myofascial release.

In 2012, Janet Littleton, RMT, CST-T and I embarked on a Multiple Hands Craniosacral Therapy practice. With CST as a base, this treatment approach entails two therapists treating a single client over the course of one hour, (30 minutes for 12 and under). There are many advantages to this approach. Each session offers an opportunity to explore how the body is struggling on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. It also offers an opportunity to connect associated areas of dysfunction and work to release these connected areas simultaneously. Every session is unique to each individual. For Multiple Hands Craniosacral Therapy Appointments please contact Janet at Littleton's Massage Therapy: 780-814-3097.

Skills

I have had the privilege of taking post-graduate courses from many well-know practitioners in the field of physiotherapy including Diane Lee, Earl Pettman, Jim Meadows, Rex Lauren, David Butler, Lorimer Mosely, and Richard Bourassa. These individuals, along with others, have provided me with an excellent base in orthopaedic manual therapy and pain management.

I completed my Craniosacral Therapy Certification: Techniques Level in 2014 and have also completed Upledger's courses on somatoemotional release, the immune system and the enteric nervous system. These systems are often key factors in the treatment of ongoing dysfunction not resolving with conventional approaches.

I have completed several Barral Visceral Manipulation courses and frequently utilize these techniques within my orthopaedic practice.

In conjunction with the above, I have developed many myofascial and energy-based techniques that have assisted my clients in moving forward in their rehabilitation processes.
