About
Eric Byrd is a Nationally Certified (NCBTMB #526987-07) and Kentucky State Licensed Massage Therapist (KY#2031). He understands the needs of his clients by listening to their health concerns and being intuitively called to address not only the area of pain but also the area(s) that may be the ultimate source of their problem. Eric uses several massage modalities in addition to being Divinely directed. His ability to help reduce and in some cases eliminate the pain or problem of the individual is uncanny. Eric has taken great strides in expanding his knowledge from the basic massage principles by specializing in CranioSacral Therapy (under the direction of the Upledger Institute) and Visceral Manipulation (under the direction of the Barral Institute). He has also expanded his knowledge by working with women in educating good breast health. Studying under Cheryl Chapman, R.N., HN-BC, and LMT, training was provided to understand the function and daily health of the breast as well as caring for those current or surviving cancer patients. These specialized massage techniques and education focuses on increasing lymph movement around the breast. The effect of the massage is to increase the presence of killer T-cells that protect the breast from bacteria and cancer. Additional instruction was provided for massage to those currently being treated with Chemo, Radiation, or those that have had reconstructive surgery. His latest advanced training includes Medical Massage under the direction of Ralph R. Stephens, LMT. These highly refined massage techniques are used for those individuals that have been referred for specialized treatment by other Professional or Healthcare physicians (MD's, DO’s, DC’s, or Pain Specialists). Many times these sessions focus on one or two areas of the body due to recent trauma or injury and include working with insurance carriers. My Skills
Relaxation Massage is a gently, more stress relief type of massage. It is very similar to and sometimes called Swedish massage. Long soothing effleurage strokes using oils and creams help to ease tension, suffering, rejuvenate and moisturize the skin. Relaxation typically includes the entire body and can include hot stones or aromatherapy as add on services. Spa type activities of salt or sugar scrubs and mud treatments also fall into this category. Therapeutic massage is a type of massage provided to relieve sore muscles from over extended use, repetitious movement and from minor injuries or pain. Therapeutic massage usually incorporates a deeper or heavy handed touch and depending on the area of concern may not have the luxury (time limited) of a complete body massage. Therapeutic massage depending on the client may include CranioSacral or Visceral manipulation techniques as needed to work with the massage techniques. Medical Massage is an up and coming new type of massage where the client/patient is referred from another health practitioner via a prescription stating a diagnosis and an area to be addressed. Many times these individuals’ injuries arrive after having an automotive accident or some type of slip and fall. Special circumstances from sports injuries may be included in this category.Professional Associations / Memberships
