Sydney McCaughan RMT

About Me

Sydney Lee McCaughan is a Registered Massage Therapist born and raised in Southern Alberta. A dedicated student of yoga and Traditional Thai Massage, she completed her 2200-hour diploma at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, BC, and has since returned to Alberta to continue her practice while pursuing a three-year Acupuncture Diploma at the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

Sydney’s path into bodywork began through personal experience navigating chronic pain and a long-term health condition. Her own healing journey led her to train extensively in yoga in India and Thailand, and in abdominal and Thai massage techniques. These experiences shaped her belief in the body’s inherent capacity to heal when given the right support.

Sydney is beginning to more intentionally integrate her training in Somatic Experiencing® (year 1), CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation (Barral), and Thomas Hanna Somatics into her practice. Together, these approaches inform a trauma-informed, nervous-system centered lens, recognizing how stress and trauma are held in tissues, organs, posture, and protective patterns. Through this somatic foundation and ongoing study in these modalities, she supports clients in developing greater awareness, regulation, and resilience, while honouring the body’s innate capacity to heal.

Sydney integrates Eastern and Western techniques including Thai massage, acupressure, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, joint mobilizations, abdominal massage, breathwork, and postural education. She works collaboratively with clients to support chronic pain, stress-related conditions, digestive concerns, injuries, and overall wellbeing.

Her intention is not to “fix,” but to facilitate space for balance, resilience, and reconnection within the body.
