About Me
Hi! I am Dr. Rachel Herron (she/her) and I am a trauma informed Orthopedic & Pelvic Health Physical Therapist, certified in Dry Needling and trained in Visceral Manipulation. In addition to being a Physical Therapist, I am a Master Reiki Practitioner. I treat all genders, ages 10 and up.
My mission as a Health Care Provider is to offer integrative mind-body wellness and educational services that empower people to be their own greatest healers. As such, I strive to honor the intersections between our physical health, mental health, emotional wellbeing, lived experiences and various layers of our racial, cultural, and sexual identities.
I hold my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Pacific University, where I served as Class President and co-founded a student led group named The Collective for Diversity and Social Justice, to address health disparities. I first discovered my passion for pelvic health while working as a Pelvic Health Research Assistant at Pacific University. Since then, I have completed over 250 hours of continuing education to become a pelvic health specialist.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colorado College, where I majored in Cellular Molecular Biology and double minored in Spanish & Human Biology and Kinesiology.
I am proud to be a retired Division I student-athlete! I love integrating my experiences as a student-athlete and Captain of my Division I soccer team into my practice as an Orthopedic & Pelvic Health Physical Therapist & Reiki practitioner. I culminated my soccer career representing Team USA at the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
Being an active community member is important to me. I currently serve as co-chair of the APTA WA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee. Outside of direct patient care, I am honored to teach pelvic health content to Student Physical Therapists as an Adjunct Professor for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, at Tufts University School of Medicine (Seattle Campus). I also offer mentoring services to aspiring pelvic health physical therapists.
Some of my speciality patient populations include: BIPOC, LGBTQ+, First Responders, Military, High Performance Athletes, Survivors of sexual trauma and abuse, and People experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress injuries (commonly called PTSD).
When I am not at Cedar Physical Therapy, I enjoy living in the greater Tacoma area with my wife and our 3 dogs, Luca, Ali and Vinnie. The cute pup in photos across the website, is Ali, my clinic’s Therapy Dog! Ali and I can’t wait to support you on your wellness journey.
