About Me
Taylor has been a Massage Practitioner for over 20 years, originally graduating in 1995 from the Massage program at the North Carolina School of Natural Healing in Asheville, NC. She has been in private practice for many years and has also worked in both medical massage and chiropractic clinics. Taylor likes to blend several different therapeutic techniques to help increase relaxation and decrease physical pain in her clients. Her ability to tailor sessions to the needs of the individual, coupled with a love of client education, helps clients move out of the "pain-trauma-pain" cycle. Modalities used in a session may include Myofascial Release, Swedish, Visceral Manipulation, or Structural Decompression. Taylor has experience helping clients recover from: surgery, sports injuries, chronic pain and injuries from car accidents... but she also enjoys treating those who are simply wanting a relaxing, Swedish Massage! She finds great joy in the co-creation of personalized treatment plans to assist clients in leaving their pain in the past. Taylor has been a dancer since an early age and still loves to spend much of her free time in dance classes. She and her family also spend as much time as possible camping and hiking along the coast. My Skills
More about me: I utilize 3 main treatment modalities in a bodywork session: Structural Decompression, Visceral Manipulation, and NeuroMovement®. Structural Decompression is a slow and deep palpation, movement, and manipulation of the Periosteum (outermost layer of the bones) and associated joint structures. It is often combined with Myofascial Release. Structural Decompression facilitates the release of forces and loads from the bone matrix, the result of which may include bone reformation, increased ability of the bone matrix to disperse force, an increased sense of energy in the tissues, and a sense of lightness and well-being throughout the whole system. Anyone experiencing “deep†pain or discomfort in a bone or joint is a good candidate for Structural Decompression. Each Structural Decompression Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils or creams. This enables me to accurately detect fascial restrictions, and to apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure necessary to facilitate a release. I always combine elements of Visceral Manipulation in a session, because I find the work to be so beautiful and relieving. Our bodies and organs are meant to move freely, so when an organ is no longer mobile but adhered to another structure, the body is forced to compensate. This disharmony creates fixed, abnormal points of tension which lead to functional and structural problems throughout the body. My aim is to assist the body in the restoration of it's innate harmony. My treatment goal is to treat the source of the pattern, not just the symptoms. One of the foundational principles of Visceral Manipulation is that “the body hugs the lesion", meaning that your tissues will guide me directly to the place that needs help the most. As the root of the problem is addressed, symptoms start to decrease and the body returns to greater health. This shift is felt in session as a sense of release and opening which continues after treatment, and is fully incorporated days later. The Anat Baniel Method® of NeuroMovement® is a revolutionary holistic approach to improving the overall functioning of the brain through movement. NeuroMovement® lessons use guided movements, directed attention and applied principles of neuroplasticity (The Nine Essentials) to increase differentiation in the brain—helping students overcome limitations and form new, more skillful, pain-free patterns of movement. Rather than viewing an individual as a mechanical system of parts or an issue that need fixing, this method views people as dynamic, information-based intelligence systems moderated by the brain—with infinite possibilities for continuous growth, refinement and development. It's a whole person approach, where body and mind are treated as one. A foundational tenet of this method is that movement as the language of the brain—and by using small movements in a skilled way, the brain allows the body to re-organize for healing, rehabilitation, the mastering of skills, and personal evolution. ABMNM, or the Anat Baniel Method for NeuroMovement® helps people of all ages & conditions move beyond their current pain and limitations. I am so grateful to be on the path that I am on, and to be invited along on people's healing journeys. Thank you for reading!Professional Associations / Memberships
