Barbara I. May, LE, LMT/MMT/NMT

Barbara specializes in providing a combination of CranioSacral Therapy and Advanced Therapeutic Medical Massage that includes some stretching, self treatment, and nutrition education. For these appointments, clients are welcome to arrive in cotton comfortable clothing and remain clothed for the services.

Barbara May is a passionate BodyMindSpirit Practitioner about whole-body health and fitness through education and healing touch. In the late 1990’s, Barbara’s search for better health led her to focus on sharing what she has learned through service to others. Barbara is a licensed Esthetician and Massage Therapist with a Washington State Intraoral Endorsement. She has been a licensed Massage Therapist, with a certification in Neuromuscular Massage, and Master Esthetician since 2010 where she studied at the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage in Jacksonville, Florida. She moved to California, Japan, back to California, and finally settled in her home state of Washington with her retired military husband and family.

Barbara is a lifelong learner. She completed her Medical Massage Certification with Health Matters Seminars in April 2022. She completed various Upledger CranioSacral Therapy courses listed below. Barbara continues to add courses to further her talents and skills in treating those she serves.  https://www.upledger.com/

Barbara is a military veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Following her husband around the world as a military wife, Barbara has continued to serve others through her business, Optimal Wellness Designed for You, formerly Wellness w/ Barbara May. During this time, she was a stay-at-home mother raising their two daughters. She served military members, families, and friends in her extensive career around the globe. She has helped her clients heal, recover from injuries, ground, reset, and relax. Many have stated, "I have never received a massage or a CranioSacral Therapy session like Barbara’s. I always leave relaxed and feeling so much better than when I arrived." 

Barbara’s skills include treating for pain referrals throughout the body, forward head posture, headaches, tmj/jaw/oral work, rounded shoulders, frozen shoulders, radiating arm pain, back or abdominal pain, pelvic/hip dysfunctions, sciatica, tight upper and lower legs, and plantar fasciitis.
