About Me
Marisa is the Co-founder of Body Connect Health & Wellness and a Licensed Physical Therapist in Washington DC and Virginia. She graduated with her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 2004. She began her career at National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington DC and quickly found her passion in the comprehensive treatment of men and women with pelvic floor dysfunction including chronic pelvic and abdominal pain, incontinence, and pre/post-natal pain.
In 2009, she began working with Brandi Kirk at the Kirk Center for Healthy Living, a pelvic floor specialty clinic in the Chicago suburbs. Here she was able to enhance her skills as a pelvic floor specialist through the incorporation of Visceral Manipulation and promote a comprehensive healing environment by leading yoga and meditation workshops for people with chronic pelvic pain. She has also served as a teaching assistant with Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitative Institute, further establishing herself as an expert in this field.
Marisa’s training in Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral Therapy, Integral Bodywork, and Myofascial Release has proven pivotal in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, abdominal pain syndromes and structural problems of her patients and clients. She has also found her work to be transformational for her own physical body and general health. In her spare time Marisa enjoys going on meditation retreats and especially working with Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (IBME) an organization that leads mindfulness retreats for teens, cooking, cycling, swimming, hiking, music, theater, and travel.
