About Me
I am a licensed massage therapist, practicing Tuina Massage, the manual modality of Chinese Medicine, trained through my gongfu family, The North American Tang Shou Tao Association (NATSTA). As a massage therapist, I also offer CranioSacral therapy developed by osteopath Dr. John Upledger. I was introduced to CranioSacral therapy during my Tuina training. NATSTA’s founder and master teacher Dr. Vince Black was a student and colleague of Dr. John Upledger. Dr. Black witnessed and experienced the powerful effect that CST has on the unified physio/psycho/somatic/emotional system and implemented it into our Tuina curriculum. I apprenticed with Dr. Black for over a year in Tucson where we held a free children’s clinic. Continued advancement as a CS therapist is preparing me for certification to support class settings as a teaching assistant.
In my practice, I encourage my clients to take charge of their health with daily physical exercise, mindful breathing exercises, proper rest, and a healthy diet as viewed through the lens of Chinese medicine and with consideration of the clients’ specific constitution. Addressing lifestyle choices and attitudes are also considerations that I discuss with my clients as Tuina takes into account a person’s emotional, physical and mental aspects when restoring balance. For certain conditions, I recommend specific exercises that are part of my martial arts practice.
In addition to massage therapy, I am a trauma informed Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator registered through The International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association. I was trained through Tamalpa Institute’s internationally recognized Somatic Movement and Expressive Arts program.
