About Lauren Budd, MS, CCC-SLP

Lauren Budd is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with more than 25 years of experience helping children, adolescents, and adults develop stronger communication, feeding, social, and functional skills. Her extensive clinical background includes work in medical settings, private practice, rehabilitation, agencies, and public schools.

Lauren earned her Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University and her Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Teachers College, Columbia University, with a minor in Deaf Education. Her professional training includes extensive experience in neurologic and neurogenic communication disorders, medical speech-language pathology, and evidence-based practices across the lifespan.

Lauren specializes in speech and language therapy, feeding therapy, myofunctional therapy, craniosacral therapy, pragmatic and social communication, swallowing disorders, and community transition therapy. She also provides support for tongue ties and breastfeeding and works with children and families to develop practical skills that can be carried over into everyday life.

Through As Burgers Go, Lauren takes a unique, functional approach to therapy by combining clinical expertise with real-world experiences. Her community-based programs provide children with opportunities to practice communication, social interaction, problem-solving, independence, and other important skills in meaningful environments.

Her philosophy is simple: therapy should not only happen in a clinical setting—it should help children feel more confident and capable in the world around them.

Lauren brings a comprehensive, child-centered skill set that combines clinical expertise with a functional, whole-person approach to communication, feeding, and development. Her areas of expertise include:

  • Speech and Language Therapy for speech, language, communication, comprehension, and expressive language needs

  • Feeding Therapy and ARFID Support, including picky eating, food aversions, sensory-based feeding challenges, and limited food repertoires

  • Breastfeeding and Infant Feeding Support, including early communication, bottle transitions, tummy time, and tongue-tie concerns

  • Myofunctional Therapy addressing oral muscle function, tongue thrust, oral resting posture, feeding, and swallowing

  • Craniosacral Therapy,  a gentle, hands-on therapeutic approach that uses light touch to assess and support areas of tension and restriction throughout the body. Sessions may focus on areas that facilitate speech, language, voice, swallowing, respiration, and regulation, including the mouth, head, neck, jaw, and other areas, to promote relaxation, body awareness, and comfort.

  • Pragmatic Language and Social Communication, including conversation skills, friendship building, perspective taking, social problem-solving, and emotional regulation

  • Medical and Dental Appointment Support, helping individuals manage anxiety, sensory needs, and communication challenges during healthcare visits and procedures

  • Community Transition Therapy, supporting individuals in developing functional communication, independence, and confidence in real-world environments

  • Inclusive Camps and Group Programs designed to promote social connection, sensory regulation, communication, and participation for individuals of all abilities

  • Parent Education and Coaching, empowering families with practical strategies they can incorporate into everyday routines

Lauren’s approach focuses on meeting each individual where they are and integrating communication, sensory, oral-motor, feeding, and regulation skills into meaningful, real-world experiences.
