Kelly is a licensed physical therapist since 1990, a certified PMA and Polestar Pilates instructor since 2004 and presently working towards a specialty in visceral mobilization taught through the Barral Institute . As a young competitor in swimming, crew and cycling, Kelly was introduced into the world of physical therapy as a patient after several knee surgeries of her own. Kelly's career in Physical Therapy spans 3 decades: In 1990, she received her degree from the Northwestern University Physical Therapy program and began her career at Kaiser in Fremont, California. In 1992, she founded and directed an outpatient clinic, Solutions Physical Therapy, in Fremont California. There, she worked closely with professional and college athletes, as well as respected doctors of orthopedics, neurology, internal medicine, osteopathy and chiropractic. In 1998 she relocated to Santa Cruz County, working extensively in the field of Pilates as a Certified Polestar/PMA rehabilitative practitioner. She worked alongside Sherri Betz at Therapilates for several years. In 2015, Kelly founded Core Connections Physical Therapy and Pilates in Scotts Valley and continues to work with her developing team of Physical Therapists, Pilates instructors, and Rolfing/Feldenkrais/Visceral Mobilization practitioners. Presently, Kelly is realizing the importance of assessing and treating the mobility of the viscera (organs) in the body. She has been integrating this therapy and making better progress with patients in chronic pain that are not improving with traditional therapies focused on joints and soft tissues in the body. Kelly’s educational background in physical therapy includes visceral mobilization courses with the Barral Institue, extensive study in Maitland and McKenzie Spinal dysfunctions and derangements, Sacroiliac Dysfunctions, Shoulder and Pelvic dysfunction, Craniosacral therapies with the Upledger Institute, Institute of Physical Art (IPA) courses directed towards in neurological assessment of upper and lower extremities and certification of rehabilitation using Pilates methodologies through Polestar. Her background is strong in manual therapy and movement reeducation. She sees patients for pre/post surgical rehabilitation and dysfunctions of all musculoskeletal and visceral areas. As a physical therapist, Kelly’s primary goal is to provide quality one-on-one treatment for a full hour, education and personal motivation with all her clients. Teaching Movement, positioning and postural exercises with a comprehensive core and joint stabilization program, Kelly is dedicated to enable her clients to understand and work with injuries using many methodologies. Helping others gain better control of movement in a functional and pain-free way to stay physically fit, Kelly focuses on a holistic and self-empowered approach to rehabilitation and fitness.
