My name is Kendel Lipe and I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  I'm an outdoor enthusiast, engineer, and integrative practitioner. I used to call myself a healer, but the more I do this work now understand I am not a healer but a facilitator, trained to use my hands and knowledge to maximize each patient's own incredible healing potential.  My mission is to provide a unique and specialized approach to physical therapy, seeing every patient one-on-one and empowering them with tools to lead their most fulfilled life.

I look beyond your muscles and joints to the many facets that interact with your symptoms - your nervous system, organs, connective tissue, posture, lifestyle and story. I am commiting to problem solving with every patient, helping them navigate their own body, the medical system, the research, and any of the other intimidating obstacles that can make navigating the healing journey difficult.

In my practice, I use any combination of advanced manual skills such as visceral mobilization, craniosacral therapy, Myokinesthetics, John Barnes Myofascial Release, muscle energy techniques, trigger point manual and dry needling work, internal and external pelvic floor physical therapy, somatic healing, strain-counter strain and more.  When appropriate, I will also utilize neuromuscular reeducation exercises, mindfulness training, and lifestyle coaching. Depending on each patient's needs and desires, I may use one or all of these techniques.  I also offer virtual visits world-wide for coaching those with chronic illness or complex concerns.

I treat all ages 2+, all genders, and any condition or injury. A few populations I work with often are pre/post partum mothers, men and women with pelvic floor dysfunction, those with chronic illnesses such as connective tissue disorders (I have one myself), autoimmune disease, organ dysfunction and GI issues, those on the Autism/ ADD spectrum, Post-COVID syndrome and others with vagus nerve dysfunction.

I am also a certified Doula (birth assistant) working in person in Austin, San Antonio and the surrounding areas, and virtually around the world.

I am committed to spreading awareness globally regarding pelvic floor dysfunction and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and to providing services for those nationally and internationally who can not otherwise access it. 10% of all proceeds go towards these causes.

My skills

-  Visceral Manipulation: a type of manual therapy that gently frees up restrictions around the organs that affect not only their function but the alignment of the whole body. I enjoy empowering patients to do these techniques on themselves if they have chronic issues, and have found this to be very helpful.

- Craniosacral Therapy: balancing of the spine, dural tube, sacrum, skull bones, and the fluid network amongst them

- John Barnes Myofascial Release: a type of sustained-hold massage therapy geared toward rehydrating and elongating areas of the connective tissue that may be restricted and causing issues throughout the body.

- Advanced Myokinesthetics: I am one of only 6 practitioners in Texas certified in these techniques. A type of nervous system retraining that is fast and helps to reset different spinal levels, having a huge effect on posture, organ function and more. I use this at the end of some visits to help integrate changes and help the patient hold changes.

- Dolphin Nuerostim Practitioner- I use these Direct Current devices on appropriate patients to quickly free up scar tissue, cranial sutures, trigger points and more. It can be used for Vagus nerve stimulation. I also train patients in how to use these amazing tools at home for vagus nerve stimulation, pain relief and more. See dolphinmps.com more info.

- Pelvic Floor physical therapy - I have advanced training in internal and external treatment  and retraining of the pelvic floor muscles, the often forgotten about part of our core that hugely affect our hip alignment, breathing and organ function.  I do not do this with every patient, and always explain and get thorough consent first, but it is often helpful to a patients healing journey, especially if they keep hitting dead ends and it hasnt been addressed. Many also seek me out speficially for this type of therapy, pre/post partum populations, those with sexual pain or dysfunction, those with strong menstrual symptoms, tailbone pain and more. I utlize biofeedback as well as manual therapy.

- Doula work. I am a trained to be a Doula, where I can, either in person at the hospital or virtually, help to support the birthing parent and their family in the birth of their child. I integrate my PT skills and visceral knowledge into this work.

- Concussion/ Vestibular rehab - I use a combination of exercise training, microcurrent therapy, and manual work to help

- Exercise Training: While this often isn't a huge emphasis during in-person sessions, I have found that a few gentle daily exercises centered around the nervous system help to hold the changes we make during the session. If the patient desires, we can make a video home exercise program they can follow at home, fine tuning and adding to it as necessary in clinic. If a client's goal is to get back to sport or weight lifting, we will emphasize this more once their body is in the right alignment.Â
