About Me

Dr. Joan co-manages Healing Unleashed LLC of Lakewood Colorado along with medical doctor Wanda Bedinghaus. Healing Unleashed offers Functional Medicine, Craniosacral Therapy, Neurofeedback and Biofeedback, and Manual Therapies. Many of our patients who have PPO insurance plans receive insurance coverage for our services. Joan has over 30 years experience in orthopedic bodywork. She is a specialist in restoring integration, balance and function to the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Joan treats all tissue groups of the body using manual therapies. Fascia work is especially important when treating chronic myofascial pain problems. Joan has practiced Craniosacral Therapy for five years. Currently about 60% of her patients receive CST. In her craniosacral work, Joan focuses on treating jaw/bite problems, headaches, traumatic brain injuries, and myofascial pain of head, neck and shoulder region. In our clinic, TBI patients can also receive neural feedback training to restore normal brainwave function. Joan has completed CST I, II and III with the Upledger Institute. Her initial certification in CST I, II, III was by classes with Ken DiPersio, BCST, CST-T, CNMT, LMT who studied with John Upledger from 1991 until Dr. Upledger's passing. In her orthopedic bodywork Joan is an expert in restoring function of both the shoulder girdle and the pelvic girdle. Joan received her doctorate degree in 1982 from Temple University where she studied the arts and sciences of human movement. She received certifications from 3 schools for massage studying in Minneapolis and Denver. She began clinical/medical bodywork in 2004 after completing 12 exam-based certifications in manual therapy through The Medical Massage Office and Associates. She has completed continuing education courses annually. Dr. Joan is a lifelong learner and loves to spend a few hours each weekend advancing her knowledge of anatomy. She credits her success to the fact that she offers manual therapies along with movement and wellness education. Her goal is to assist her clients to heal themselves and to learn how to maintain body integration. Many patients want to receive stress education, breathing education, lifestyle support, body mechanics education along with manual therapy.
