Knox Physical Therapy

PT, DPT

Jeni began her career in physical therapy over thirty years ago due to her love of the human body, how it functioned, and her athletic background.  Now, after 35 years of practice, the human body still fascinates her.  She continues to study, take classes, and learn, so that she can treat her patients wholly and completely.  She believes people are a series of stories (injuries, bumps, and bruises) from their life, and these stories layer upon each other affecting their present situation.  She understands the body is a complex machine, and to assist it in healing requires the same complexity in understanding it.

Jeni started her career working in orthopedics and sports. and continued working in outpatient orthopedics.  She has since learned to treat patients from a broader spectrum including manual therapy, visceral manipulation, SEAS scoliosis techniques, Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), Dry Needling, and Pelvic Floor/Women's Health.

Skills

Jeni started her physical therapy work in sports and orthopedics treating patients post-operatively and post-injury.  She is thankful for this experience and feels it was a great way to begin her physical therapy journey.  She had the privilege of working with all levels of athletes and particularly enjoyed learning about the shoulder with prominent doctors in southern California, ultimately giving lectures on the topic.  She expanded her orthopedic skills participating in manual therapy classes from organizations including IAOM (International Association for Orthopedic Medicine)  and St Augustine University.  After taking hundreds of hours of orthopedic-type and sports classes, she realized that the body was more involved than looking at it solely from this orthopedic view.

Early in her career she pursued advanced education in Exercise Physiology and later received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  Eager to learn and expand her knowledge in order to help her patients best, she continued with her education and learning in the areas of Scoliosis, NKT (Neurokinetic Therapy), Dry Needling, and the Pelvic Floor.  She became certified in NKT, a technique that opened her eyes to other aspects of assessment. She also became certified in treatment of women's pelvic floor issues through The Institute for Birth Healing.  Still wanting more, she ventured into Visceral Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy through the Barral and Upledger Institutes.

Jeni’s deep desire to learn, her varied background, and her devotion to her patients help to make her a highly sought out therapist.
