About

I have worked as a physical therapist in Aurora, Colorado since 1984. I decided to open my physical therapy private practice in 1988 after working 4 years as a civil servant in PT at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. My time at this teaching hospital taught me a great deal about the variety of presentations that patients come in with, including those issues that "modern" medicine has no way of testing, and therefore, no real plan of action to treat effectively.

Chronic pain issues, PTSD, post concussion symptoms, headaches and long term post op pain, were some of the areas that seemed to me to require a much deeper approach than what I had learned about in PT school. My search for answers took me to multiple courses throughout the US, studying under multiple practitioners, always gathering information and techniques and new approaches to add to my general knowledge base. I eventually found my way to the Upledger Institute, and then the Barral Institute. I have continued to study with this group of practitioners for several decades.

Having integrated craniosacral work, visceral and neural manipulation and similar techniques into my practice for many years has added a deeper dimension and even greater treatment results. My practice is known for being "a little different" from most PT practices in our area due to the manual work that we do along these lines, and we quite enjoy being the odd duck in the pond. Our patients mention constantly that their experience with us is very different from their prior PT experiences, in that we seem to look at their issues from a much deeper perspective. This perspective allows us to form a more complete, effective approach with every patient.

My plan is to continue to move through coursework myself, and continue to send my other providers on staff to the same coursework,  bringing back additional knowledge and more techniques to the clinic that will serve to enhance patient treatments. There is always more room for growth and knowledge, and I am grateful to the instructors at these institutes for the opportunities they have given me to make me a better practitioner.
