I am an independant contractor doing business as Tapestry Life Resources & Massage Therapy and working from my office at Body Balance II Therapeutic Massagein downtown Hickory, NC. After teaching in the public schools for 34 years, I've changed careers, and I love being a massage and bodywork therapist. The human body is amazing, and every one is different. I initially trained at the Whole You School of Massage and Bodywork in Rutherfordton, NC. I received a very complete education with training in many modalities, all of which I use in my practice. Since graduation, I have taken numerous continuing education classes. My introduction to Craniosacral Therapy, Somatoemotional Release, and Lymph Drainage Therapy at The Whole You led me to the Upledger Institute, where I have received additional training in Upledger's CST and SER, taking classes through the level of SERI. I serve as a teaching assistant with the Upledger Institute; thus, I am now considered staff by them. I am also enrolled in Dr. Bruno Chikly's Lymph Drainage Therapy classes and have completed LDT1. I have completed Touch for Health classes through TFH3 and will complete TFH4 within the year. I am approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork as a continuing education Approved Provider #451254-10. |

My skills I tailor every massage to the individual client's needs. I take a complete history and update it each visit. I am knowledgeable in several modalities, and I mix modalities as needed to achieve the best results. I proudly say that I never give the same massage twice. That's because your body has different needs this week than it will have next week. Part of the Upledger philosophy is to be present and to let the client's body talk to you as the therapist. I try to do that in every massage I give. I particularly enjoy Craniosacral Therapy, Somatoemotional Release, Reiki, Myofascial Release, and Deep Tissue Massage. I am looking forward to my LDT classes with Dr. Chikly in the fall when I can add a new skill to my tool belt. I am a member of the AMTA, IAHP, and TFHKA. |
