Kristina Pearson Kristina Pearson has been involved with complementary healthcare for more then 30 years;and involved with the Upledger Institute for over 20 years. She has been successful in helping retrieve neurological integrity in patients having neurological conditions: such as ADHD, cerebal palsy, concussions, Parkinsons, trigeminal neuralgia,and post-stroke. In 1995, Kristina designed a 3- month program for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disordered (ADD/ADHD) while taking a 2-year Somatic Movement Therapy Techniques training with Dr. Martha Eddy,PhD. SMT incorporates the findings of occupational therapist, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen,O.T. who's work is revolutionaray and referred to as Body-Mind Centering. When appropriate, Kristina incorporates acupuncture into her CranioSacral sessions, as acupuncture techniques enhances the movement and release of bone and soft tissue adhesions and restrictions. In 1996,Kristina was hired by Dr. Christine Hughes,M.D.,of Presbyterian Hospital,in Charlotte North Carolina, as the CranioSacral Therapist for 'The Presbyterian Center for Integrative Medicine' PCIM was an innovative collaboration between doctors, acupuncturist, physical therapists, social workers,and CranioSacral therapists. Many of Kristina's patients were dealing with chronic diseases such as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatique Syndrome, Post-Polio Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Diabetes, Migraines,and post-stroke recovery. Kristina has been a Teaching Assistant for the Upledger Institute CranioSacral I and II classes. She also taught CranioSacral therapy for the North Carolina Upledger approved study group in Charlotte, NC from 1997-1999. Kristina Pearson received her Masters of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. This 4-year training emphasized western medical sciences, as well as Asian medicine;acupuncture,herbal formulas and Qi Gong exercise. Kristina also holds a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Columbia University, Teachers College,in New York City, where she specialized in remedial techniques for children with Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD/ADHD). Her undergraduate work is in Psychology and InterpersonalCommunications. Kristina has trained in Tai Chi Chuan martial arts, and Qi Gong. Presbyterian Hospital Matthews sponsored Kristina Pearson in teaching a class called "Qi Gong for the Handi-Capable". This class was taught at the hospital for those with post-stroke and post-polio conditions. Kristina has a private practise in Charlotte, NC where she works with adults and pediatrics. |
