The CranioSacral and Massage Center,Inc
LMT I was drawn to massage through a series of significant events, unbeknowst to me at the time. My Chiropractor told me most of the problems I was experienceing in my neck and shoulder, were caused by stress. He recommended that my husband massage my shoulders every night... I asked to have that in writing! Well each night I would sit on the floor and my husband really would massage my shoulders. Overtime I began to see a correlation between massage and the release of a headache. Or I would notice my sinus's would open, or sore throats or earaches would go away. We had noticed over the years that we had stopped using 'over the counter' pain relievers and cold medicines because between chiropractic treatments and massage we were maintaining very good health. I began to massage my friends, family and co workers to alleviate headaches, sinus problems and the like, and was strongly encouraged to go to massage school. I graduated Kripalu's School of Massage in April 2006. Kripalu is a yoga retreat center and I felt that I would benefit greatly by their energetic and spiritual approach to bodywork. In March 2007, I had a 15 minute 'sample treatment' of CranioSacral Therapy and within 2 days I was booked with the Upledger Institute to learn CranioSacral myself. I knew I just had to learn how to do this to better assist my clients. CranioSacral Therapy is a light touch therapy where the practitioner feels your cranio rhythm (this can be detected like your heartbeat; anywhere throughout your body),then detects blockages, and assists in bringing about better cranio rhythm to help the body function at it's optimum level. I work with your fascia, cranio rhythm and various boney landmarks to make the changes necessary for a balanced body to optimize healing and reorganizing. The cranio system directly influences your nervous system, so when the practitioner is 'fine tuning' your rhythm, simultaneously he or she is boosting your immune system. It usually brings about a feeling of relaxation and well being. It is great for chronic headaches, traumas and injuries... and seems to help those cases where the client has 'tried everything else...' and the medical field can not help any further. Most recently I took a Myofascial Release class with John F Barnes P.T.and I have found that it works very well with the cranio and massage techniques that I already have. I believe that our bodies can heal themselves. I am simply a facilitator. "The power that made the body~ heals the body". It is awesome to be a part of that process! Thank you so much!My skills Professional Associations / Memberships IAHE Affiliations
