Esalen® Massage & Bodywork
Kathryn Streletzky received her massage training at the Esalen Institute in 2004 and is nationally certified in therapeutic massage & bodywork.
The long, connecting strokes of Esalen® Massage form the base upon which Kathryn then incorporates deep bodywork or light touch therapies as appropriate and per your request.
Clients receive their massage & bodywork on a far infrared heated massage table that uses jade to evenly disperse its deeply penetrating warmth. Pure essential oils distilled from organic plant materials, not chemically enhanced "aromotherapy", ensure therapeutic efficacy, and are included in your session at no additonal charge. All massage oils & creams of highest quality available - no sticky feeling afterwards.
A Bose soundsystem plays entrancing Metamusic developed by the Monroe Institute with binaural beat Hemi-Sync® technology for healing and deep relaxation.
Kathryn teams up with Martin Maxey for Four Hands massage sessions. The pair is well practiced in working together in the intuitive dance of massage - starting in a perfectly matched mimicry of each other's strokes and moving towards a crescendo of complementary modalities that will delight and gratify the senses.
My skills
I was the self proclaimed "spa goddess" at my initial massage class at Esalen. When I first visited the famed Insitute in Big Sur in November 2002, I had been receiving massage for more than 20 years and had frequented such famous establishments as the Golden Door, the Grienbrier Hotel, Nemacolin Woodlands, and Grove Park Spa. But the style of massage I received overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur was like no other I had experienced. I felt cradled and entranced by the rhythms that seemed to flow from the heart of the ocean through the therapist's body and into my own. I was hooked, and received bodywork each day of my visit - and kept coming back for more - which was quite a "hike" from my home in Maryland. Eventually, I became a certified Esalen® massage practitioner, and discovered that I enjoyed giving as much as receiving the flowing bodywork. I continued to master new modalities such as deep tissue, lomi-lomi, cranio-sacral therapy, lymph drainage, aquacranial, raindrop technique, spiritual massage, reconnection, and more; however, Esalen massage remains the base and core of my work, and I happily weave other modalities into my work as appropriate and/or requested.
