Creating space for ...

Gentle. Fluid. Motion.

Shawn brings over 30 years of experience in creating a safe space for your healing process.  The CST process is so gentle and individualized that you are able to release the physical, energetic, mental, and emotional restrictions that you feel supported in releasing.  We access the Central Nervous System, and thus, every system of the body.  As we follow your Inner Wisdom and trust, you open into transformative awareness - and with that - limiting patterns, fight/ flight/ freeze, fears, anxiety, and pain or dis-ease fall away.  This occurs using your language and imagery bringing freedom, ease, and joy for YOU!

Partnering with people one-on-one to educate and facilitate healing is her true desire and gift. Shawn also loves speaking to groups to inspire, educate, and encourage joyous, fearless, and holistic living.

Shawn D. Axten, P.T., CST-D

began practicing physical therapy in 1986, after receiving her degree sum cum laude from Pacific University.

Developing her love for the gentle work of Craniosacral therapy, she has studied and trained for over 20 years, including dissection classes, and advanced training with Dr. John Upledger, DO in Florida. She has been Diplomat Certified by the Upledger Institute in both techniques as well as the holistic approach of CST dialoguing with the individual's Inner Wisdom.  As an instructor and a certified teaching assistant, she has helped many learn CranioSacral therapy at all levels (beginning through advanced) and has supervised and taught Upledger Institute-endorsed CranioSacral Therapy Study Groups. "CST is such a powerful in-road to affecting the brain and nervous system, and the resultant structures of the body," says Shawn, therefore, she uses this as a primary form of assessment and treatment, blending her PT skills for measurable documentation of progress, and integration into home function, and self-help skills.  This allows her to effectively quantify change and progress, and effectively receive insurance reimbursements for her patients.

The heart of Shawn’s work is bringing her artistic, creative, and spiritual side to her approach with patient care. She listens with compassion to another person’s experience, story, goals, and desires, assessing the body for structural and emotional restrictions, and helping to free these areas to facilitate the transformation of body awareness, pain-free function, and vitality for life. "This mode of treatment," says Shawn, "lends itself to a perfect blend of right/left brain, science and art, clinical experience and personalized attention to each individual.  I am able to witness and facilitate transformation through very challenging life experiences, and most often, we end up finding something to laugh about along the way.  It allows supportive, thriving in life with amazing balance and perspective, and YOU are in the drivers seat!"
