Lisa Desrochers
D.P.T., M.S., A.T.,C., CST-D
Dr. Desrochers has twenty-three years of manual physical therapy experience treating a variety of patient types. After earning her Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy and National Certification in Athletic Training in 1986, she began her practice in Boston, Massachusetts. There she practiced in a variety of healthcare settings including hospital based outpatient and inpatient programs and sub-acute rehabilitation, eventually finding her way into outpatient Sports Medicine. As Director of Physical Therapy at SportsMedicine Boston, she initiated community outreach programs on injury prevention. She developed and conducted numerous seminars for varying groups of health care providers, fitness club personnel and high school and collegate level athletes. There she became involved with the professional men's tennis tour (ATP) where she served as Athletic Trainer at tour events in the Northeast. Additionally, she served as a consultant to the Boston Celtics team physician, performing pre-season evaluations and developing individualized stretching programs for the athletes. Throughout this, she continued her education through pursuit of her Masters of Science and Doctoral Degrees in Physical Therapy from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, and through numerous continuing education programs based in manual therapy. In 1992 Dr. Desrochers left sports medicine and became Assistant Professor at Lasell College in Newton Massachusetts. At this time she also continued her clinical practice at Brookline Physical Therapy, a manual physical therapy clinic designed to serve the needs of chronic pain patients whom had been through traditional physical therapy without relief of their symptoms.
In 1995, following the birth of her first child, Dr. Desrochers relocated to the west coast and now practices in Modesto, California. Her practice is founded on the belief that a hands-on approach to treatment, while honoring the patient's inner wisdom, will bring about the best potential for healing. She specializes in treatment of chronic neck and back pain, headaches, myofascial pain, fibromyalgia, lymphedema, biomechanical imbalances, prenatal and postpartum pain, male and female infertility, attention deficit disorder, work related injury and sports medicine among others.
Dr. Desrochers also works with The Upledger Institute as a Certified Instructor for CranioSacral Therapy I and CranioSacral Therapy II. She continues to be involved in community outreach and speaks frequently to medical and non-medical groups regarding the benefits of CranioSacral Therapy. Additionally, she worked closely with the PTA and school administration in initiating The Upledger Institute's Compassionate Touch program at three local elementary schools.
