Craniosacral Unwinding

About Me

Karen is returning to Canada to reside after spending most of her life in the Bahamas where she had a practice for 25 years as an Upledger Certified Craniosacral Therapist and a Licensed Massage Therapist by the state of Florida.

Originally a Travel Agent with an interest in fitness training, Karen developed debilitating head pain in her early 20’s. For three years she pursued every conventional medical avenue with no success. It wasn’t until a two hour Craniosacral session revealed several compacted cranial bones due to a horse kicking her in the head at 15 that her pain disappeared.

Karen’s enthusiastic journey into bodywork began. While her focus is primarily Craniosacral therapy, her work comes from an experienced and intuitive knowledge of the body and practice which includes Neuromuscular Therapy and Myofascial Release.

Her client base ranges from seniors to young adults to high-level athletes who have issues with chronic and acute pain and dysfunction due to life’s traumas. Karen’s special interest and passion is being a facilitator to help people become aware of restrictions (emotional, energetic or physical) and their causes, releasing them with treatment and teaching ways to self correct and prevent re-occurrence.

Her training and years of experience blends together using this gentle manual therapy to create an opportunity to help in areas of chronic neck and back pain, headaches and migraines, tinnitus and vertigo, spinal and neurological disorders, scar tissue release, carpal tunnel syndrome, pre-surgical preparation, post-surgical recovery, stress related disorders and others.

Craniosacral therapy assists the body’s natural ability to normalize itself and achieve greater health, enhancing the functioning of our structure and physiology, sense of being more present and well being.

MY PASSION

The essence of my relationship with CST is one of passionate optimism and enthusiasm. This is due to the reflection of my own personal experiences and by witnessing so many positive transformations in others.

All of our body’s functioning is supported, surrounded and separated by the structure of our connective tissue or fascia. Restrictions in these structures affect our body functions. When restrictions in this tissue are released we potentially facilitate improvements in all areas of our body. From cellular metabolism, blood flow and all fluid exchange, nerve conduction, organ function, the flow of energy, immune system function to a greater sense of well-being. That’s exciting !

My Skills

As a therapist I listen to where physical restrictions are and how the body responds to touch, thoughts and emotions. I glean from experience, technique and trust. I am excited to present possibilities to those who might think there is no hope of better health. I am very inspired to hold a space to help in the best way possible.
