Benjamin Katz
CMT, MFA
Benjamin Katz received his MFA from Claremont Graduate School and for 15 years enjoyed a career in the arts, exhibiting nationally and internationally. He also taught ceramics and painting at Sonoma State University in California; the Institute of Industrial Design in Helinski, Finland; the Studio School in Spokane, Washington; and led workshops in France, Sweden, and the United States.
Always a subject in his artwork, his interest in the human form became the groundwork for his studies as a somatic therapist. In 1994, he graduated from the Institute for Psycho-Structural Balancing in Santa Monica, California. Since that time, in addition to running a successful private practice in Davis, California, Mr. Katz has consistently studied the modalities of cranial osteopathy and Visceral Manipulation. Moreover, he has continued his passion for the study of anatomy, which had its origins in figure drawing. He audited classes in gross and neuro anatomy at the University of California, Davis Medical School as well as participated in full cadaver dissections. This association led to his teaching an Introduction to Manual Medicine course at the medical school. He collaborated with Dee Ahern, Visceral Dissection Instructor and helped develop the dissection class for the Visceral Manipulation curriculum. He is a Certified Instructor for Visceral Dissection for the Barral Institute.
